British Paediatric Surveillance Unit: Republic of Ireland representative

BPSU undertakes active surveillance of rare paediatric conditions and infections across the UK and Ireland. Its Scientific Committee comprises experts in paediatrics, epidemiology and public health, and includes paediatric trainee and public representatives, and is now seeing a rep in Republic of Ireland.

Internationally known, BPSU is a joint initiative between the Âé¶¹´«Ã½, Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and University College London, Great Ormond Street - Institute of Child Health (ICH). 

Duties of this role include:

  • Support the Unit to achieve its strategic aims and objectives
  • Supporting the peer review and approvals process of studies of conditions proposed for inclusion on the ‘orange card'
  • Support the work of the Medical Advisers and the appointment, induction and work of other committee members
  • Contribute to the development of a yearly strategic review including work and financial plan
  • Be an advocate for the work of the BPSU
